Man City target West Brom defender Jonny Evan
Manchester City have had an £18m bid rejected for West Brom captain Jonny Evans, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports News understands the Northern Ireland international has been on City manager Pep Guardiola's radar for several weeks.
City have turned to Evans with Dutch international Virgil van Dijk looking increasingly likely to remain with Southampton.
One source has told Sky Sports News that City have already had a bid turned down by West Brom for the former Manchester United centre-back but it is believed they will return with a third offer.
Arsenal also tried to sign the 29-year-old last summer but West Brom rejected their approach and Arsene Wenger brought in Shkodran Mustafi instead.
Evans, who joined West Brom from United in 2015, has since insisted he remains committed to the Baggies.
"I have been made club captain this season so unless the club turn around and say they want to sell me nothing has changed from the last two seasons," Evans told Sky Sports News.
Evans has made 65 appearances in all competitions for West Brom, scoring on three occasions.
