We work with coaches, athletic directors and key decision makers in the process of organizing an international tour. We provide on-the-ground expertise, engaging with the top people in the business of Irish sport and tourism. We coordinate facilities, exhibition game schedules and event coordination to make your game schedule a balanced part of your time with Celtic Horizon Tours. By expertly managing your hotel, meal, sightseeing and travel arrangements, you can spend your time enjoying the company of your staff, players and your new friends. We provide a comprehensive consultation with the tour leader as we plan out the details that make the difference between a good tour and a great tour.

Additional info

  1. The VAT (Value Added Tax) on hotel accommodation in Ireland was reduced from 13½% to 9% some years back.  It is expected that the Government at a future date will restore the VAT to the original level.  This will affect the price quoted.  Our next budget will be announced Mid-October

Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday 12th April

Group departs USA –Gather at U.S. Airport and board connecting transatlantic flight to Ireland.  Enjoy a meal, a movie and some rest on the overnight flight, and get ready for a memorable tour!

Day 2 - Saturday 13th April

Group arrives at Dublin Airport and is met by our Celtic Horizon Tour representative. Transfer via comfortable private motor coach to Galway on the west coast of Ireland.
On the way we stop in Causey Farm and experience life on a working Irish Farm.

Visit Causey Farm and try out some of traditional Irish sports and farm games. See the animals and feed the lambs. A light lunch is served before departure.

Afternoon arrival in Galway, take a historic walking tour of the medieval city. Explore the narrow, pedestrian streets and you will discover the heart of Galway. Fun street performers, quaint shops and pubs give you plenty to enjoy.

Day 3 - Sunday 14th April

Depart on half day tour of Connemara visiting Kylemore Abbey and the village of Leenane, on Killary Harbour.

Afternoon arrival back in Galway to meet a local basketball team for some trainig and a clinic

Free for dinner this evening in Galway

Day 4 - Monday 15th April

Check-out and depart Galway travelling southwards via the Burren National Park and the Cliffs of Moher to Kinsale.

The Burren is a huge limestone mass, also described as a lunar landscape. The Burren with its innate sense of spiritual peace has an extraordinary array of flora and wildlife, megalithic tombs and monuments are older than Egypt’s pyramids

Continue along the picturesque Clare coastline to the Cliffs of Moher. Next stop America!

Check-in to Acton’s Hotel, for 3 nights, welcome dinner on arrival.

Day 5 - Tuesday April 16th

Enjoy visit to Blarney Castle & Gardens

Later we transfer to the nearby town of Cobh and take a historic walking tour called the ‘Titanic Trail’

We’ll walk through the streets and environs of Cobh, revealing locations and incidents directly connected to the Titanic and many other aspects Cork harbour history and Irish heritage. Highlights include: Original buildings, streets and piers associated with Titanic, The actual pier where Titanic passengers departed from, St. Colmans Cathedral, The Lusitania Peace Memorial, The Titanic Monument, Emigrant, military and maritime history, The story of Spike Island & The Famine, Convict Transportation.

Return to Kinsale where we have a team dinner booked in a traditional Irish restaurant. The medieval town of Kinsale is not just about food. it’s also about traditional bars, beautiful buildings, narrow streets, shops and galleries and lots of activities on land and sea. You’ll find Kinsale’s not just a place – it’s more a state of mind!

Day 6 - Wednesday April 17th

Tournament Time in Fr Matthews Arena Cork. Dinner under own arrangement

Day 7 - Thursday 18th April

Basketball tournament continues through the morning.

Mid-afternoon departure from Cork and travel to Dublin – 3 hours

Visit the Rock of Cashel, one of the most spectacular historic site in Ireland. It’s huge, it’s complex, it’s iconic, there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world The Rock of Cashel (Carraig Phádraig), more formally St. Patrick’s Rock, it is also known as Cashel of the Kings. Reputedly the site of the conversion of Aenghus the King of Munster by St. Patrick in the 5th century AD. Long before the Norman invasion The Rock of Cashel was the seat of the High Kings of Munster, although there is little structural evidence of their time here. Most of the buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries when the rock was gifted to the Church.

Day 8 - Friday 19th April

Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, is on Ireland’s east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and imposing St Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include landscaped St Stephen’s Green and huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo. The National Museum of Ireland explores Irish heritage and culture.

Visit Croke Park, Irelands national stadium for Gaelic football and Gaelic games. Enjoy a tour of Croke park stadium and GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) Museum
