Insurance is a very important matter for everybody travelling by motorcycle. We feel therefore, that it is important that you clearly understand matters and set out the relevant information below.
1. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
All packages include a basic insurance for which the amount of cover varies from State to State. We strongly recommend that you give very serious consideration to taking the optional SLI as this increases your Liability Insurance Benefit up to US$1million. This insurance protects the renter against claims made by a Third Party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident.
2. EVIP Insurance
This policy is applicable to the motorcycle ONLY. It limits the liability of the renter:
- in the event of any and all accidental damage to the motorcycle and its accessories.
- the loss/theft of the vehicle provided the motorcycle was locked with all locks provided by the rental company.
- in the event of mechanical breakdown requiring repair for more than 12 hours, the renter is provide with up to $75/day for a replacement rental + refund of daily rate.
- covers the cost of tire repair/labour, but towing is NOT covered.
- A Security Deposit of $300 will be taken upon collection of the motorcycle
IMPORTANT: A police report is required for all damages or accidents. All damages to rented motorcycle without a police report is considered the Renter’s fault.
3. Personal Travel Insurance
Your travel insurance policy must include repatriation to Ireland of patients by Air Ambulance or other medically approved means of transportation where it is deemed as preferable by the Medical Adviser of the Insurance Underwriters.
Please check closely the terms of cover provided by any travel insurance policy that you are offered or already hold. In our experience, most policies only provide cover for motorcycles up to 125cc which is not sufficient as most motorcycle models in use on the EagleRider tours range between 1200cc and 1800cc.
Celtic Horizon Tours will be happy to assist in obtaining quotations for suitable travel insurance cover should you require our assistance in this matter.

FAQ
How many people are in a group?
We allow a maximum of 15 bikes per group. At rare occasions there can be a few more bikes but if the number exceeds 15 we may add a second tour guide on a motorcycle to the group.
Will I receive some kind of information about my tour before I arrive?
A road book for each specific tour will be sent to you via email as a pdf file; the book contains all important and necessary information about your tour, route, general information, etc.
Will there be enough photo stops on a guided tour?
While one just likes to ride and is hardly to be kept off his bike another may want to stop every five minutes to get this very special photo shot. We try to find a good average of stops to accommodate everyone’s needs.
Can I book additional nights before or after the tour through Celtic Horizon Tours?
Yes, we are happy to book additional accommodation before or after the tour for you. Please be aware that once an additional reservation has been made any changes or cancellation will result in a €50 handling fee per occurrence. Reservations for additional nights must be made at time of booking.
What is the weather going to be like?
If you’ve all been good the weather will be too…honestly, we can never be certain; this is one factor on our tours that we still haven’t been able to influence. In general you can say that during mid summer months you have a 90% chance of staying dry and hot weather on any of our tours. It’ll always be a little cool along the west coast and you can always expect some rain along Route 66. Please come prepared, bring your raingear and a variety of clothing to be armed for all weather conditions.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
For your own safety we require you to wear a helmet at all times when you ride a motorcycle.
Do all bikes have a windshield?
The only models that are equipped with a windshield are Electra Glide, Road Glide, Road King and Heritage Softail, and BMW. Especially during mid summer you will face very hot temperatures on your rides. A windshield will not only hold off dust and stones but also keep away direct hot air to your body.
IMPORTANT
- If a person decides to travel without any travel insurance cover, they do so explicitly at their own risk, against our advice, and are deemed to absolve Celtic Horizon Tours Ltd, its employees, agents, suppliers and various affiliates of all and any responsibility and/or liability.
- The prices shown are in respect of 2 pax + 1 bike sharing a twin / double room. Prices are also available on request for 2 pax + 2 bikes sharing a twin / double room, or 1 pax + 1 bike staying in a single room.

Day 1 0 mi/0 km Denver - Arrival
Please make your travel arrangements so you arrive at our Denver hotel by 4pm for orientation, and to meet your fellow riders and guide team. We’ll kick back tonight with some time to relax together near the hotel, but we’ll save the included Welcome Dinner for a great spot in Manitou Springs tomorrow night. Please be sure to let the EagleRider team know if you would like to arrive a day or two early and we will make additional hotel arrangements for you at our Downtown Denver hotel.
Day 2 100 mi/160 km Denver – Manitou Springs, CO
We will grab a good breakfast at the hotel then make the short trip to EagleRider Denver to pick up our bikes and hit the road. The miles for today don’t look like much, but we are almost immediately on our first of the endless miles of incredible mountain roads we will enjoy for the next nine days, and we’ll take 100 miles of “twisties” that run along beautiful rivers and creeks over 300 miles of flat road every day of the week! We don’t waste any time setting the bar at an epic level, as we stop just outside Manitou Springs to leave our bikes for a few hours and enjoy a trip to the top of Pike’s Peak on the famous Pike’s Peak Railway. The scenery is indescribable on the train ride to the top of the Peak, and we’ll have an exciting time reliving the experience over our group Welcome Dinner tonight.
Day 3 110 mi/176 km Manitou Springs – Salida, CO
Our first stop today will be the Royal Gorge Bridge, which sits almost 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River below. It’s also home to some of the coolest attractions for everyone from the mellow sightseer to the raging adrenaline junky. Whether it’s Ziplining along the edge of the Gorge, or simply enjoying the gondola ride underneath the bridge, there’s something for everybody. The ride out of Royal Gorge is one of our favorites on an impressive road that winds along the banks of the river, many time so close you can almost reach out and touch the water. Our stay tonight is the small town of Salida, which is historical Colorado town with a cool Main Street full of shops, restaurants, and watering holes.
Day 4 200 mi/320 km Salida – Durango, CO
This is one of our longer riding days, but no less spectacular than the past couple of days. We’ll head Southwest through Southern Colorado’s prairie land for a stretch before starting our ride through the beautiful foothills of the San Juan National Forest. You’ll recognize some of the names of the towns we visit along the way, like Pagosa Springs and Chimney Rock. We’ll have plenty of time for photo stops, breaks, a great lunch, or to just soak in the scenery. Durango is one of our favorite Colorado towns, where the Old West meets great hotels and some of the best food you will find. We will be in Durango for a couple of days, giving you plenty of time to take it all in.
Day 5 0 mi/0 km Durango Free Day
Ok, you’ve got a ton of options on our free day in Durango, and it really comes down to what kind of activities you like. We have a menu of options to choose from, including the famous Durango – Silverton Steam Train ride along the river, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, off-road adventures, hiking, mountain bike, or just kicking back and enjoying a day of shopping and relaxing on Main Street. The historic steam train excursion is included in the package. This route has been in existence since 1882, and much of the scenery remains exactly as it was over 140 years ago.
Day 6 110 mi/176 km Durango – Montrose, CO
Today is all about three simple words: Million Dollar Highway. Ok, there’s a lot more to this epic day, but the ride on Colorado’s Highway 550, also known as the Million Dollar Highway, is most definitely one of the highlights. The official stretch of this famous road is approximately 25 miles between Silverton and Ouray, but most consider it to start in Durango, as the scenery in the early stretch is just as incredible. For those that didn’t take in steam train ride to Silverton yesterday, this is your chance to check out this historic mining town. Just up the road is another famous mining town, Ouray. Our stop for tonight is in the small town of Montrose, home to epic scenery and a very walkable Main Street full of vibrant restaurants, shops, and watering holes.
Day 7 165 mi/264 km Montrose – Glenwood Springs, CO
This is always the part of writing tour descriptions where we start to run out of adjective, but everything about the riding, scenery, stops, food, people, wildlife, and everything else we encounter today is just as epic, incredible and jaw-dropping as the past six days. Right out of the gate, we make our way to what is one of the coolest sights in Colorado, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The ride North out of the Canyon is equally impressive, with views of Needle Rock, Mt. Baldy, Maroon Peak, Capitol Peak, Huntsman Ridge, and more. Our home tonight is Glenwood Hot Springs!
Day 8 150 mi/240 km Glenwood Springs – Breckenridge, CO
Ok, seriously, we are running out of ways to describe the roads and scenery! Today might just be the most epic riding day, at least in terms of riding some of the highest mountain passes in North America. We’ll roll through Aspen, before riding the 12,095 ft elevation Independence Pass, which sits on the Continental Divide. We roll back down towards Twin Lakes, then start the ride back up to the highest incorporated city in the United States, Leadville, which sits at an elevation of 10, 152 ft. Our last stretch of the day is into the famous winter ski resort of Breckenridge, which is equally beautiful during the summer months. The village in Breckenridge is very walkable, and, as usual, is home to tons of options for shopping, eating, and drinking.
Day 9 130 mi/208 km Breckenridge – Estes Park, CO
Aside from the line we stole from John Denver, this tour also takes part of its name from Rocky Mountain National Park, which is the highlight of today’s ride. Yes, the roads and scenery from Breckenridge to the RMNP entrance are awesome, but nothing compares to riding the entire West to East stretch of this park, especially with another pass crossing at just over 12,000 ft. The only thing more highly guaranteed than a stunning ride, are multiple wildlife sightings in the park. Our stop for the night is Estes Park, one of the gateways to Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park.
Day 10 90 mi/144 km Estes Park – Denver, CO
The last day is always bittersweet. We have all made some great new friends, many of which we will know and ride with for many years to come. We’re ready to get home, but we could all still use another day or two on the road. For us, it is so important to end on a high note, and today is no exception. Yeah, it is a short ride, but the roads and scenery right up until we hit Denver are just as impressive as the previous nine days. Our favorite stop today is St. Catherine’s Rock Chapel. We’ll even roll through Golden Colorado, home to Coors, one of the most famous, and oldest beers in the USA. We will be back in Denver at our EagleRider location to crack a few cold ones together at our Farewell dinner and start hatching plans for next year’s journey.
Day 11 0 mi/0 km Denver - Departure
Please be sure to let us know if you would like to stay in Downtown Denver for another day or two. We can even arrange a separate motorcycle rental or self-guided tour for those who may want to get out and explore on their own for a few more days.
